| Streamline
your upgrade process with the SmarTeam Silent Installation
In
today's world of lean manufacturing, many companies
have decided that they also need to be lean in the IT
department. For this reason, many IT departments are
understaffed, overworked, and under appreciated. When
it is time for a minor or major SmarTeam upgrade, IT
staffers find themselves hovering over machines, spending
nights and weekends upgrading each client machine with
the proper software. This process is tedious and error
prone, causing an extreme anxiousness among IT people
who want to perform the upgrade with a minimal amount
of engineering downtime.
Introducing the SmarTeam Silent Install:
In the current versions of SmarTeam, Dassault has included
instructions on how to install SmarTeam Client machines
using a "Silent Install." The Silent Install
is just a term for installing all the required software
in the background. The software is installed without
your direct interaction and thus is "Silent."
How does the Silent Installation Work?
Basically the Silent Install uses the standard windows
installer, but passes your configuration settings to
the installer in the background through a series of
configuration commands. So, no matter how your SmarTeam
client is configured (i.e. SolidWorks Integration, MS
Word Integration), the silent install can handle it.
All you have to do is configure the silent install batch
file, copy your cd's to a network directory, and you
are off an running.
