Technical Support Bulletin: Save your SolidWorks settings, using the Copy Settings Wizard.
By Paul Niedermann

You can save your system settings, using the SolidWorks Copy Settings Wizard.

If you are upgrading your SolidWorks software, moving to a new workstation, want to share you settings with a coworker or just want to back up your settings incase of system failure, use the Copy Settings Wizard.

The Copy settings wizard allows you to save all your customizations, Keyboard shortcuts, menu customizations, system options and toolbar layout to a single SolidWorks registry file that can be restored by just double clicking the icon. This file can be copied or saved off your system for future use.

To set this up go to your Windows “Start” menu select “All programs” select your “SolidWorks 2005” or later version folder, then select the “SolidWorks Tools” Folder, in there select the “Copy Settings Wizard”

Next, select to save the settings, and select the next button, you may also come back to this dialog box when you wish to restore your registry file.

Finally, check which options you wish to save, name your registry file and location to save it and select the finish button.
When you want to restore your system with the information in this file, just double click on the file and select the restore button and then finish.
