Technical Support Bulletin: New Toolbox Functionality in SolidWorks 2007
By Josh Altergott

With the release of SolidWorks 2007 there have been many improvements. One of those improvements that I feel will make every users job a little easier is something that SolidWorks has added to Toolbox.

In the past if you were working with a customer who used Toolbox and they sent you a set of files without the Toolbox parts you would end up with list of hardware configurations that Toolbox did not recognize, like the one shown below. Once you select OK to this dialog box you would then end up with an assembly full of randomly sized hardware. Also if you have ever taken a set of files home with you and did not have the same size of hardware on your home computer you would once again end up with a list of hardware that Toolbox would not be able to create.

Now with SolidWorks 2007 this is no longer an issue because Toolbox will now give you the following dialog box for each piece of hardware that it does not find in its database.

By clicking Yes to this dialog box SolidWorks will automatically generate the configuration of each Toolbox item. This new functionality will now eliminate all of the work you would have to go through to recreate each of the missing configurations.
