SolidWorks now uses online License Activation instead of a
registration code as of SolidWorks 2007 SP 3.1 for standalone seat
licensing. You get two Activations per SolidWorks license, one for
Office use and one for Home use.
If you use a SolidWorks seat that requires a SolidWorks Network
License or SNL and would like to install and use SolidWorks at home,
you may do so but you will need to fill out and submit a HUL or Home
User License agreement request.
You may call CATI and request this form.
Please be aware that with the release of SolidWorks 2008,
SolidWorks will no longer require customers to submit New HUL
agreement forms to upgrade their Home User License to the latest
version.
If a customer has an existing 2007 HUL and their SNL is on current
subscription their HUL serial number will automatically be updated to
2008.
SolidWorks will still require HUL agreements for any new Home User
License requests. A special Home User License will be sent to you
once processed.
To Activate a License got to the Help menu in SolidWorks and select
“Activate licenses”

Next, select what product version you want to activate this could be
SolidWorks or other add-ins. You may also choose to activate by email
and select next.
Fill out the form with your pertinent information and select the
appropriate location “Home” or “Office” under the “Location of Use”
menu and press the Next button.
The Activation will take some time to process and then proceed to the
next window.

You will then see a confirmation window that the Activation Succeeded
and you are ready to Design with SolidWorks at Home.

Important! If you are moving from an old computer to a new one at
home or at the office, you will need to transfer your licenses. Use the
same process up above but select “Transfer Licenses” on the Old
Computer instead and it will deactivate SolidWorks. Then on the New
Computer select to “Activate Licenses” and repeat the process.
If you just want to see what licenses you have select “Show Licenses”.
