There are two ways of getting into a repair. One can either auto run the DVD or go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and then click on Change. In the first window towards the bottom left hand corner you will see link call Repair this installation. The following window will prompt you which packages you would like to run a repair session on. If the DVD is not in the DVD drive then this would be time to put it in. It should only take 10-20 minutes to repair the all of the packages.

The possible reasons to do a repair are missing command files, toolbars disappearing from menus, and if the other options under Tools>Options are not functioning the way they should. Running a repair on Solidworks is usually the first option someone would need to go through because it’s the fastest solution to apply. It’s always best to check if other installs of Solidworks are showing the same problems. If they aren’t then it would give you a clue to if this issue is solvable with simple repair or it’s another problem all together. |
