Essentials (Day One) - Students will learn basic functionality and techniques available using COSMOSMotion for motion analysis. This course will allow students to create motion-based analysis. Course enables students to create motion-based analysis using existing SolidWorks assembly models. Results of these analyses can then be used to optimize designs and reduce the number of actual prototypes.

Advanced (Day Two) - An addendum to Motion Essentials, course will raise your kinematic analysis skills to next level. The course provides an in – depth session on the basics of building, simulating and refining a mechanical design system, from suspension steering system and drive shafts to CAMS, Gears and Actuators.

Prerequisites
To ensure a consistent learning experience for all students, we have established the following prerequisites for the training course.

• Some experience modeling with SolidWorks

Course Materials
The COSMOSMotion training guide will be supplied at the beginning of class and is yours to keep.

Topics Covered Essentials (Day One)

  • Using Intellimotion Builder
  • Constraint Mapping concepts – Joints and Joint primitives
  • Kinematic Vs Dynamic analysis
  • Using wizard to set up simulation
  • Simulating Linear and torsional springs and dampers, couplers, impact forces
  • Simulate Forces and moments
  • Couplers (kinematic gears)
  • Impact forces
  • Create displacement, velocity, acceleration and force graphics
  • 3D Contact to simulate realistic interaction between parts
  • Create Trace path profile
  • Export results to spreadsheets

Topics Covered Advanced (Day Two)

  • Redundancy in a mechanism – Importance and how to avoid them
  • Using Function Builder and Expressions to build complex motions and forces
  • Using Markers to simulate control feedback systems
  • Evaluate Force Imbalances and Dynamic Balancing Application
  • Generating CAM profile from follower displacement
  • Flexible connectors – Bushings
  • Understanding three solvers – when to use what

At Course Completion
Students will have a strong understanding of how to utilize the tool in COSMOS Motion to improve their design cycles and their designs.
