This course helps students understand static analysis from elementary level. Students analyze CAD designs using existing SolidWorks part models. Such a structural analysis allows the determination of effects such as deformations, strains, and stresses which are caused by applied structural loads such as force, pressure and gravity. These results can then be studied using visualization tools within FEA environment to view and to fully identify implications of the analysis.
Prerequisites
To ensure a consistent learning experience for all students, we have established the following prerequisites for the training course.
- Some experience modeling with SolidWorks
Course Materials
The COSMOSWorks Designer training guide will be supplied at the beginning of class and is yours to keep.
Topics Covered
- Pre processing : defining the finite element model and environmental factors to be applied to it
- set up boundary conditions
- use/create material libraries
- understand mesh types/uses
- Analysis solver (solution of finite element model)
- Advantages/uses of different solvers
- Post-processing of results
- using visualization tools
- compare results from multiple analysis
- FEA modeling strategy
- Run parametric studies
- Analyze assemblies with gaps, contact and friction
- Simulate bolts / springs / pins / hinges
- Failure conditions
- Convergence and accuracy
At Course Completion
Students will have a strong understanding of how to utilize the tool in COSMOSWorks Designer to improve their design cycles and their designs.
