The ZScanner™ 700 is the first truly portable laser scanner. This state-of-the-art laser scanner helps engineers improve design and inspection throughout the manufacturing process. Connected to a laptop via a single FireWire cable, setup is quick and scanning objects is easy, fast, and accurate.

Self Positioning
The ZScanner™ is the first self-positioning scanner on the market. This digital scanner uses the subject part being scanned to establish its spatial reference.

Improvement with the ZScanner
The ZScanner™ can overcome the challenges encountered with traditional scanning technologies. The technology used in the ZScanner is based on a surface optimization algorithm. Because it avoids point clouds, the more the engineer scans, the more accurate the data acquisition becomes. Rather than adding noise to the model, it grows more refined.

Easy to Use
Every engineering and design team needs to be fast and efficient. It is therefore very important to have tools that are easy to learn and use and that can deliver fast, reliable results.

Using the ZScanner™ is Easy
Engineers, industrial designers, and artists can largely benefit from using the ZScanner 700 laser scanner in their design processes. This state-of-the-art scanner works simply and easily with regular computers.

Short Learning Curve
The ZScanner is easy to use yet extremely powerful. It comes with easy-to-learn, intuitive ZScan software, which offers users a wide array of functionalities. With traditional laser scanning technologies, operators must struggle with bulky and complex measuring arms. Not so with the ZScanner, as it does not use these technologies to function or position itself in reference to the part. Measuring arms can also collect unreliable data when fully extended or if internal encoders are twisted at different angles.

Versatility in Confined Places
The self-positioning ZScanner offers many possibilities not available with other scanners. With traditional scanners, many design specialists find it hard to perform scans in tight, confined spaces. Also, for car manufacturers, there is a high risk of losing accuracy when getting in and out of a car to collect data. Moreover, with traditional scanners, if an engineer bumps the part being scanned or the tripod supporting the scanner, the relation between the scanner and the part will change, thereby forcing the user to restart the scan. This is not an issue with the ZScanner given its self-positioning and portability features.
