When setting up a host machine for an Objet printer, there are some specific things that need to be considered. I will go through all the steps that need to be taken in order to get your printer up and running.
- You must have the printer connected to the host machine via crossover cable (orange cable that comes with the machine). It is advised that you use a dedicated network interface card for the printer. It is ok to connect the host machine to a company network using a different network interface card.
Once the crossover cable is connected, the IP address of the host machine must be changed. To do this go to Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings > Right Click on the local area connection > Go to Properties > Click on IPv4 and then click properties.
Change the IP address from Dynamic to Static. Input the following numbers:
Once that is done, there are a few more settings we need to change. We need to make sure the host machine never goes to sleep. To change this setting, go to Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Change when the computer goes to sleep. Make sure the computer is set to never go to sleep.
You will also need to turn off windows firewall. To do this, go to Start > System and Security > Windows Firewall > Turn Windows Firewall on or off. Make sure that the firewall is turned off for the connection to the printer. You can also specify that you only want the firewall turned off for the connection to the printer.
Next you will need to connect job manager to the printer. Open Objet Studio, then click the Job Manager tab and click on the "Connect" button in the top left corner. Next choose your printer and click on the connect button on the bottom of the pop up that comes up.
This will take you to the following window where you will need to replace the "Unknown" field with the IP address of the printer.
Click ok. You should be able to see the amount of material in the machine if connected properly.
This would indicate that the printer is not connected to the host machine. This could be due to the embedded software not being open and running on the printer. If you see the correct amount of material in job manager, the machine is connected and ready to print.
