SOLIDWORKS 2017 What's New: SOLIDWORKS Electrical I/O Wire Numbering – #SW2017

Mark Wires with the Same Value as I/O Address Connected

Rollout the red carpet for this highly requested enhancement.   Many users had the need to name their wires based off of the PLC channel or terminal they are connected to.  Rather than the manual method by editing each wire name individually, with SOLIDWORKS 2017, you can now run the necessary rule to get the desired result.

In a previous blog, Device Wiring , I showed you how to use a formula to get wire numbering from existing data.  Now we have a tool that will do that for us without the forumla.

You can set the same values/tags between various connected objects like wire, equipotentials; terminal and PLCs.

  • To set values, click Process > Propogate data to connected objects.
  • You can update these marks for the Whole project, Current book, Current Scheme, Current folder, Objects selected in the scheme, and Choose scheme.

I hope this part of the What’s New series gives you a better understanding of the new features and functions of SOLIDWORKS 2017.  Please check back to the CATI Blog as the CATI and MCAD Support Teams will continue to break down many of the new items in SOLIDWORKS 2017.  All of these articles will be stored in the category of “SOLIDWORKS What’s New.”  You can also learn more about SOLIDWORKS 2017 by clicking on the image below to register for one of CATI’s or CATI’s Design Summits.
