Create Complex Design Features by Using Patterns in SOLIDWORKS

A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog about a relatively new feature in SOLIDWORKS that I think was a great addition; the VARIABLE PATTERN. It tests the limits of what a pattern truly is and really can help improve the efficiency of your design process (click this link to read that blog).

, Create Complex Design Features by Using Patterns in SOLIDWORKS

This week, I wanted to expand upon that idea, and take it another step further.  Recently, at 3DVision Technologies, we have launched a new webinar series highlighting topics such as this; ways to make you BETTER, FASTER, and SMARTER.  These will take place on the first three Wednesdays of the month at 10:00 AM.  Last week, in our first webinar, the new product, SOLIDWORKS PCB, was discussed.  This week, I talked about how you can improve your design process using patterns in SOLIDWORKS with a webinar entitled: HOW TO SOLVE IT: Create Complex Design Feature by Using Patterns in SOLIDWORKS.

You may be saying to yourself, “I already know how to pattern a feature along a straight line or around an axis”, and you probably do (or at least I hope so!), but there are many more things we can do with patterns that just these.  While these two patterns above (Linear Pattern and Circular Pattern) are commonly used and very helpful in creating repetitive features, decreasing design time and improving accuracy, they are not the only options.  Pattern options such as the aforementioned Variable Pattern, Assembly Pattern options, and even more functionality within the standard Linear Pattern are available to help you more easily create your complex, ever changing designs.

These are some of the topics covered in this webinar.  If you were unable to attend, please see the video below.

As always, if you have any questions, please reach out to us and we would be happy to discuss with you.
