Nexans Autoelectric of America, Inc. is known internationally by automakers for vehicle electrical wiring systems, molded components, and clocksprings. Jeremy Richardson is a component designer that supports wire harness development at Nexans Autoelectric. Initially, Jeremy\u2019s team purchased the SOLIDWORKS Simulation<\/a> package through Computer Aided Technology as a cost-savings move to help with engagement force predictions and stress analysis.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Jeremy says, \u201cThe current CAD system being used offered the desired simulation capabilities, however, at a very high price point. SOLIDWORKS offered more than adequate capabilities at a significant cost savings. We were looking for the most cost-effective solution to incorporate simulations into our design process, and SOLIDWORKS was the clear and easy choice for us.\u201d When Jeremy made the switch, he took the SOLIDWORKS Essentials Simulation class<\/a> at Computer Aided Technology, led by Robert Warren, and learned he could be using the Simulation package for more than he initially thought.<\/p>\n

Jeremy also attended the Simulation Premium Non-Linear<\/a> and Plastics Premium classes<\/a>, and quickly realized that a good amount of his analysis studies would be focused on vibration. \u201cThe majority of our parts are on-engine applications, so being able to determine natural frequencies of components and apply base excitation onto these components is very useful to us,\u201d Jeremy says, and his trainer, Robert, is still there when he needs added support. Jeremy calls Robert up any time his questions in Simulation go beyond the basics for a customer\u2019s request. \u201cI can\u2019t say enough about his support from a Simulation standpoint,\u201d Jeremy says. \u201c[Robert] definitely takes the extra effort to make sure I understand what\u2019s going on with it.\u201d According to Jeremy, Robert\u2019s helped him out with SOLIDWORKS Plastics<\/a>, too, when running flow simulations.<\/p>\n

Overall, Jeremy is very happy with their switch to SOLIDWORKS CAD<\/a>, SOLIDWORKS Simulation Premium<\/a>, and SOLIDWORKS Plastics Standard<\/a> through Computer Aided Technology. \u201cComputer Aided Technology gives me the tools to support my customer\u2019s request in-house,\u201d Jeremy says, saving him time and money when conducting frequency analyses for customers.<\/p>\n
