Below is a guide to removing that filament from a Stratasys Dimension 3D printer.<\/p>\n<p>First, use the LCD display to put the machine into \u201cHead Maintenance\u201d mode. From \u201cIdle\u201d, press \u201cMaintenance\u201d then press, \u201cMachine.\u201d If the printer is not fully warmed up it may take longer as it needs to be at a certain temperature. The printer will go through a calibration check so be sure there is a tray installed. After the printer has calibrated you can choose the \u201cHead\u201d option to get into head maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>Once in head maintenance, press \u201cSelect Drive\u201d to toggle between the model and support drives. Choose the one that correlates with the material that is stuck.<\/p>\n<p>The printer will be warm at this time so you may want to use heat resistant gloves for the next few steps.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Remove the cover of the head by pressing the release tabs on the side of it.<\/h4>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-62639 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/solidworks-1585081015158.jpeg\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Before removing. Note that most covers are now clear and not black.<\/h4>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-62640 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/solidworks-1585081017891.jpeg\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">After removing the cover.<\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Next you will need to move the head cooling manifold out of the way.<\/h4>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-62641 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/solidworks-1585081020563.jpeg\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Depress the locking tabs on each side of the manifold:<\/h4>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-62642 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/solidworks-1585081023253.jpeg\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Remove the filament tube on the side where material is stuck in the head.<\/h4>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-62643 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/solidworks-1585081025693.jpeg\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\">Remove by pressing down on the coupler fitting and lifting up the tube.<\/h4>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-62644 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/solidworks-1585081028361.jpeg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You will now have access to the filament. Press the \u201cForward\u201d button on the LCD display to engage the drive gear. The gear will start to spin and attempt to extrude the material. Grab the filament that was just exposed and push down to melt the expanded tip of the filament through the print tip.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-62645 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/solidworks-1585081031017.jpeg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After the material extrudes a couple of inches, press \u201cStop\u201d on the LCD display, then push \u201cReverse\u201d and pull the filament up to remove it from the extrusion tip and head assembly. Once the filament is removed press the \u201cStop\u201d button on the keypad.<\/p>\n<p>Remove the filament from the filament tube by pulling out. If still attached to the cartridge, snip the filament so it is free from the cartridge first.<\/p>\n<p>Reseat the filament tube into the coupler fitting, be sure to press it down into the coupler firmly so that it is fully seated in the fitting.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-62648 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/solidworks-1585081038661.jpeg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Replace the head cooling manifold by snapping the locking tabs in place. Be sure to seat the gray air hose at top of head fixture into the inlet of the cooling manifold.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-62649 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/solidworks-1585081041269.jpeg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Replace the front head cover that was removed in step 3.<\/p>\n<p>Press \u201cDone\u201d on LCD display<\/p>\n<p>Display will read \u201cWhich materials are loaded?\u201d If both materials are unloaded press both. If just one was unloaded press the option that is still loaded in the printer.<\/p>\n<p>Exit the maintenance menu and now try to do the automatic load from the idle screen.
