Unfortunately, navigating through all of them to find which ones are going to be beneficial to your business can be a bit challenging and individually hand picking which options to use could end up being expensive. This is where <strong>CATIA V5 PLM Express<\/strong> comes into play.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CATIA V5 PLM Express<\/strong> provides numerous bundled solutions or configurations based on overall functionality. This allows customers to buy pre-made packages that are geared towards their company\u2019s needs. Often, these configuration packages result in more functionality at an overall lower cost.<\/p>\n<p>Some of these configuration packages include Mechanical Design, Complex Surface Design, Sheet Metal Design, as well as many others. If your company needs multiple configurations, <strong>CATIA V5 PLM Express<\/strong> allows you to bundle different configurations together, allowing for even more versatility and customization. There is even a starting configuration, CAT3DX, that provides the base functionality of CATIA V5 as well as an entry level for the 3DExperience Platform.<\/p>\n<p>Listed are some of the more common configuration bundles and their general application:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CAT3DX + MCE \u2013 Advanced Mechanical Design<\/li>\n<li>CAT3DX + MCE + HDX \u2013 Complex Surface Design<\/li>\n<li>CAT3DX + FPE \u2013 Sheet Metal Design<\/li>\n<li>CAT3DX + GAE \u2013 FEA Analysis<\/li>\n<li>CAT + MCE + CPX \u2013 Composite Design<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>How to Install<\/h3>\n<p>When installing <strong>CATIA V5 PLM Express<\/strong>, there are several crucial steps to ensuring a successful install. Below is a step by step guide to getting the software up and running for you. Before doing any of these though, you will need to verify that you have installed the Dassault Systemes License Server (DSLS).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1<\/strong>: Locate your two CATIA PLM Express Edition 3 zip files. For this example, we will be using V5-6R2018.CATIA_PLM_Express.win_b64.1-2 and V5-6R2018.CATIA_PLM_Express.win_b64.2-2 files.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2<\/strong>: Create a folder to extract both CATIA PLM Express Edition 3 zip files into. We will call this folder \u201cCATIA_PLM_Express\u201d. Extract both the V5-6R2018.CATIA_PLM_Express.win_b64.1-2 and V5-6R2018.CATIA_PLM_Express.win_b64.2-2 file into this newly created folder.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When creating the folder name, you will want to avoid using special characters and spaces. You will also want to make sure that the file path does not exceed 180 characters in length.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-52672\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/solidworks-1590667897141.png\" alt=\"Catia PLM Express is found in my downloads folder\" width=\"952\" height=\"407\" data-wpmflightbox=\"0\" data-wpmf_image_lightbox=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/solidworks-1590667897141.png\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3<\/strong>: Open your newly created folder. You will notice that inside it, a new folder, \u201cCATIA_PLM_Express.win_64\u201d, has been created.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-52673\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/solidworks-1590667900363.png\" alt=\"For Windows 10, I find the 64-bit folder for CATIA PLM Express\" width=\"954\" height=\"400\" data-wpmflightbox=\"0\" data-wpmf_image_lightbox=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/solidworks-1590667900363.png\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4<\/strong>: Open the \u201cCATIA_PLM_Express.win_64\u201d folder.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 5<\/strong>: Next, open the \u201c1\u201d folder.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 6<\/strong>: Double click the \u201csetup\u201d file to begin installing the software. When installing the software, use the default settings unless otherwise recommended.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 7<\/strong>: While the software is installing, go to your Windows Search bar and type in \u201cNotepad\u201d. You will open the Notepad app to create a new text file.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-52674\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/solidworks-1590667903006.png\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 8<\/strong>: With the Notepad app open, you will type in one of the following text formats:<\/p>\n<p>Device Name:4085<\/p>\n<p>Or<\/p>\n<p>IP Address:4085<\/p>\n<p>The IP Address format is used when the DSLS is put on an external machine. When this is the case, you will need to open the 4085 ports in the firewall to allow proper communication.<\/p>\n<p>For this example, the device name is CIN-TECH-JZ, therefore the text file will read:<\/p>\n<p>CIN-TECH-JZ:4085<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-52675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/solidworks-1590667905581.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 9<\/strong>: Click File, Save As, and browse to where you have your CATIA PLM Express Edition 3 software download zip files. Here, you will save this text file as the following:<\/p>\n<p>DSLicSrv<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is important you save this file exactly how it is spelled out including proper capitalization.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do not add \u201c.txt\u201d to the end of the file name.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-52676\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/solidworks-1590667907658.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 10<\/strong>: Once the software install is finished, uncheck the \u201cI want to launch CATIA PLM Express V5-6R2018\u201d, and click Finish. There are a few more steps before the software is ready.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-52677\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/solidworks-1590667909619.png\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 11<\/strong>: Right click on your newly created \u201cDSLicSrv.txt\u201d file and Copy it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 12<\/strong>: Go to your C: drive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 13<\/strong>: At the top of the window, click \u201cView\u201d. then go to the right side of the screen and click the down arrow under \u201cOptions\u201d, followed by clicking \u201cChange Folder and Search Options\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-52678\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/solidworks-1590667913420.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 14<\/strong>: A \u201cFolder Options\u201d window will open. Select the \u201cView\u201d tab at the top. Towards the middle of the screen will be a \u201cHidden files and folders\u201d icon with two options below it. Select the \u201c<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/help\/4028316\/windows-view-hidden-files-and-folders-in-windows-10\">Show hidden files, folders, and drives<\/a><\/strong>\u201d option.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-52679\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/solidworks-1590667916373.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 15<\/strong>: Click \u201cApply\u201d. Then \u201cOk\u201d in the \u201cFolder Options\u201d window.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 16<\/strong>: In the C: drive, open the newly unhidden \u201cProgram Data\u201d folder.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-52680\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/solidworks-1590667918570.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 17<\/strong>: Open the \u201cDassaultSystemes\u201d folder.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-52681\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/solidworks-1590667921793.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 18<\/strong>: In the \u201cDassaultSystemes\u201d folder, you will create a new folder called \u201cLicenses\u201d. Ensure that you spell it with a capital L.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-52682\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/solidworks-1590667925119.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 19<\/strong>: Open the \u201cLicenses\u201d folder and paste the \u201cDSLicSrv.txt\u201d file into it. This step allows this computer to point at the License Server.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-52683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/solidworks-1590667928284.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 20<\/strong>: Open the CATIA software. An error message will pop up. Click ok.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-52684\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/solidworks-1590667931118.png\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 21<\/strong>: The License Manager window will open with a list of Available Configurations or Products.
