We&#8217;ve got the colors changing, the air cooling, and fast-approaching trips to the apple orchard. It&#8217;s also the time of year when we start to think about \u201cWhat\u2019s New\u201d with our SOLIDWORKS portfolio of software! So, let\u2019s warm up with some of my favorite enhancements for SOLIDWORKS Manage 2023 and a few that came along later in 2022 service packs (and maybe with a warm cup of cider and a donut).\u00a0 You can also view this content in video format:<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/y_FJdFUbiuk\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>SOLIDWORKS Manage 2022 SP Enhancements &#8211; #8 Refresh Process output<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"471\" height=\"463\" class=\"wp-image-192235\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/word-image-192220-1-1.png\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/word-image-192220-1-1.png 471w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/word-image-192220-1-1-300x295.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 471px) 100vw, 471px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our SOLIDWORKS Manage administrators can now make our processes a little more streamlined when it comes to updating fields between stages. In prior releases, users would have seen unnecessary stages that were for systems efforts that made things feel a little more clunky. Now as a user I can see my process or its stages exactly as they are with no \u201cextra steps\u201d for \u201cother stuff\u201d going on in the background.<\/p>\n<h2>#7 Automated timesheet categories<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"852\" height=\"506\" class=\"wp-image-192237\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/word-image-192220-2-2.png\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/word-image-192220-2-2.png 852w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/word-image-192220-2-2-300x178.png 300w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/word-image-192220-2-2-768x456.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 852px) 100vw, 852px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Previously, when a SOLIDWORKS Manage user started a timesheet, they were met with a blank canvas. This isn&#8217;t a problem if you have 1 or 2 items to enter. However, if you need to track dozens of tasks, the interface can be cumbersome. With the addition of the automatic timesheet functionality, SOLIDWORKS Manage users will see timesheets populate for all stages they are assigned to for the week they choose. This means that users will only need to apply the time and don\u2019t need to search around for the correct task\/stage to apply it to. Faster timesheet efforts are a good thing!<\/p>\n<h2>#6 Automatic update of linked record fields from the primary reference<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1013\" height=\"591\" class=\"wp-image-192239\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/table-description-automatically-generated-2.png\" alt=\"Table Description automatically generated\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/table-description-automatically-generated-2.png 1013w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/table-description-automatically-generated-2-300x175.png 300w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/table-description-automatically-generated-2-768x448.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1013px) 100vw, 1013px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Linked records are great if you stay on top of them. What do I mean? Well, there are limitations. One is that (until this update) they are a \u201cmanual push\u201d from the PDM record to the linked record. If a SOLIDWORKS Manage user does not click the \u201cupdate button\u201d, the linked record info would remain static or most importantly NOT updated. With this automatic update setting, any changes to the PDM file (or record), will automatically update the linked record with the latest information. This is great for SOLIDWORKS Manage users, especially if they rely on the linked record as the source of truth for BOM\u2019s, ERP, etc. Now they can trust that the BOM, our single source of truth, is indeed up to date.<\/p>\n<p>Now that we&#8217;ve warmed up a bit, let\u2019s head into SOLIDWORKS Manage 2023 What\u2019s New<\/p>\n<h2>SOLIDWORKS Manage 2023 &#8211; #5 Performance Improvements<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"373\" height=\"135\" class=\"wp-image-192241\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/2-ways-to-make-your-ppc-landing-page-load-faster-or-2.jpeg\" alt=\"2 Ways To Make Your PPC Landing Page Load Faster | PPC.org\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/2-ways-to-make-your-ppc-landing-page-load-faster-or-2.jpeg 373w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/2-ways-to-make-your-ppc-landing-page-load-faster-or-2-300x109.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 373px) 100vw, 373px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Performance improvements in many key areas. What does that mean for the SOLIDWORKS Manage users:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When using the Plenary web client there will be faster load times for larger PDM objects<\/li>\n<li>For SOLIDWORKS Manage users heavy into Project efforts, they can expect to see faster load times for projects with high stage counts &#8211; hundreds of stages.<\/li>\n<li>For SOLIDWORKS Manage users engaging their PDM Vaults; PDM Objects now have faster sync and check-in \/ check-out times<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>#4 Updated reference interface<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-192243\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-word-descr-4.png\" alt=\"In SOLIDWORKS Manage 2023, a full user interface in the &quot;add&quot; screen makes advanced searching a breeze.\" width=\"691\" height=\"456\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-word-descr-4.png 691w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-word-descr-4-300x198.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 691px) 100vw, 691px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Until this release, you were probably familiar with a very vanilla &#8220;add&#8221; screen. But new in SOLIDWORKS Manage 2023, we have a new add button that gives our users a full user interface. This makes advanced searching a breeze while adding references.<\/p>\n<h2>#3 Else Condition Warning<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-192244\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-description-11.png\" alt=\"We can provide warnings to users if they select actions in a workflow in SOLIDWORKS Manage 2023. Set this up in your process wizard, shown here.\" width=\"676\" height=\"454\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-description-11.png 676w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-description-11-300x201.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 676px) 100vw, 676px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now during configuration, the SOLIDWORKS Manage administrator can warn users if there&#8217;s an else condition in place and what will happen via a custom message. For example, if a SOLIDWORKS Manage user were to want to not accept or approve a record <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=GrKlK6VI33E\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">going through a process<\/a>, now they will be warned that not accepting would also close the record.<\/p>\n<h2>#2 Drag and drop custom fields<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-192245\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-table-desc-3.png\" alt=\"We can drag an drop custom fields in SOLIDWORKS Manage 2023, making it easier to reorder our bills of materials.\" width=\"639\" height=\"374\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-table-desc-3.png 639w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-table-desc-3-300x176.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 639px) 100vw, 639px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When users need something new added to their environment, we oftentimes find ourselves recognizing that it is often \u201cthe same but different\u201d. Prior to this release &#8220;same but different&#8221; was not doable. Administrators had to rely on rebuilding that need from scratch and making sure it was truly the same but different. Now during configuration, SOLIDWORKS Manage 2023 administrators can easily re-order fields on the fly via drag and drop rather than the time-consuming up\/down reorder buttons, thus making Manage configuration much faster.<\/p>\n<h2>#1 Copying BOM variants and process objects<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-192246\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-description-12.png\" alt=\"SOLIDWORKS Manage 2023 offers administrators a &quot;New From&quot; option to make it easier when making similar BOM objects.\" width=\"656\" height=\"465\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-description-12.png 656w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-description-12-300x213.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 656px) 100vw, 656px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When SOLIDWORKS Manage users need something new BOM variant added to their environment, we typically find ourselves recognizing that the need is as often said to be \u201cthe same as but different\u201d. Prior to this release \u201csame as but different\u201d was not doable. SOLIDWORKS Manage administrators had to rely on rebuilding that need from scratch and making sure it was truly \u201cthe same as but different\u201d. Now during configuration administrators can select \u201cnew from\u201d to copy existing BOM variants. This not only makes the variant implementation occur faster, but SOLIDWORKS Manage users can ensure that it was truly a \u201csame but different\u201d as that is exactly how it was created.<\/p>\n<p>But the \u201cNew From\u201d capability doesn&#8217;t stop there in the Administration tool.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"623\" height=\"529\" class=\"wp-image-192247\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-description-13.png\" alt=\"Graphical user interface, application Description automatically generated\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-description-13.png 623w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-description-13-300x255.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 623px) 100vw, 623px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>SOLIDWORKS Manage administrators can easily use the same right-click \u201cNew From\u201d for process Objects. The right-click \u201cNew From\u201d now works for both BOM Variants and Process Objects.<\/p>\n<p>SOLIDWORKS Manage administrators and users alike are enjoying the latest improvements as the theme is all about making it easier and faster to configure and use.
