Whether it be your SOLIDWORKS files, or other file types, like PDFs, it helps get that previously lengthy process done much more efficiently. Over the years, there have been many additions to make this even better, and the SOLIDWORKS Inspection 2023 release is no different. Today, we are going to focus on several of those top enhancements. You can also watch this content in video format:<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/08QQSAoelA8\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Standalone Inspection<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Standalone interface received a UI overhaul in 2023. It now looks more like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/software\/solidworks-3d-cad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SOLIDWORKS<\/a> and better supports high resolution. Also, you will see the Manual Extract replaces the OCR extraction tool. And the Auto Extract replaces the Smart Extract, which can even work on PDFs! In some instances, this new feature could be a welcome starting point over manually extracting everything first.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-192512 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/background-pattern-description-automatically-gene.gif\" alt=\"SOLIDWORKS Inspection 2023 Standalone User Interface Update\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Balloon Sequencing<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In the SOLIDWORKS Inspection 2023 Add-In Interface, we now can create balloon sequences that can be used with multi-sheet drawings. From the Inspection toolbar, you can easily create sequences with a given starting value and remove them as needed.\u00a0 You can then use these during auto extraction.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-192513 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-word-descr-5.png\" alt=\"SOLIDWORKS Inspection 2023 Add-In Balloon Sequences\" width=\"453\" height=\"446\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-word-descr-5.png 700w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-word-descr-5-300x295.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 453px) 100vw, 453px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Separately Balloon Drawing Sheets<\/h2>\n<p>Speaking of sheets, a common question I&#8217;ve heard in the past is \u201ccan I automatically balloon only a certain sheet?\u201d. Well in the Add-in in 2023, that answer is \u201cyes\u201d. You can now choose specific sheets when defining Extraction Settings in the automatic extraction method.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-192514 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-description-14.png\" alt=\"Graphical user interface, application Description automatically generated\" width=\"380\" height=\"679\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-description-14.png 450w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-application-description-14-168x300.png 168w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 380px) 100vw, 380px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Having \u2018Include All\u2019 checked works like previous versions. Unchecking \u2018Include All\u2019 allows you to specify sheets. Here is where you can also specify a different sequence for a given sheet, or just continue from the previous sheet.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-192515 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-text-application-email-2.png\" alt=\"Graphical user interface, text, application, email Description automatically generated\" width=\"455\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-text-application-email-2.png 596w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/graphical-user-interface-text-application-email-2-300x219.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 455px) 100vw, 455px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>SOLIDWORKS Inspection Manager<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>There are now two tabs in the Characteristics Section of the SOLIDWORKS Inspection Manager in the Add-In. In addition to the information we are familiar with in the Characteristics Table tab, there is also a Characteristic Tree tab.<\/p>\n<p>Here, viewing and re-ordering are a breeze. It only contains Sheets and Views that have balloons on them.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-192516 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/word-image-192511-5.gif\" width=\"321\" height=\"356\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can re-order your sheets with a drag and drop and all balloons update accordingly. For even more granular control, you can re-order views within a sheet the same way. (Note: re-ordering will remove any Sequences you&#8217;ve used).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1590\" height=\"472\" class=\"wp-image-192517 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cati.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/word-image-192511-6.gif\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Control Over Exporting<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Finally, since we have the ability at the beginning to specify sheets in the Add-In, it only makes sense to have that same ability at the end for both 2D PDFs and Excel templates.
