MakerBot ABS Filament is the best, most consistent, and most tested ABS filament for MakerBot Replicator 2X Experimental 3D Printers. It is good for detailed prints and can be used in conjunction with MakerBot Dissolvable Filament. The dissolvable filament acts as solid infill material. This ABS filament also adheres well to Kapton tape on the heated build plate.
MakerBot Dissolvable Filament is designed for use as a solid infill material with MakerBot® ABS Filament. The dissolvable material easily dissolves in a limonene bath in just 8-24 hours (depending on the size and geometry of print).
MakerBot PLA Filament is the best, safest, and most consistent filament for the MakerBot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printer. PLA Filament is a renewable bioplastic made from corn. All its dyes are FDA-approved as food safe and it’s guaranteed to have no heavy metals, phthalates, or BPA. If you’re new to 3D printing, MakerBot PLA Filament is a good material to start with because it’s easy to use and performs well on most prints.
More flexible than MakerBot® PLA Filament, MakerBot Flexible Filament creates new opportunities to stretch the limits of 3D printing. You can modify your prints by carefully heating them in hot water until they become translucent. The time this takes will depend on the density of the print. You can then reshape and mold them.

With MakerWare 2.4, we’re introducing a lighting acclimation feature that lessens the impact of strong overhead light on your scans. We’ve also upgraded our Extrusion Guards to improve stability, and implemented filament fan modulation to prevent filament clogging in the MakerBot Replicator 2.
