SOLIDWORKS 2015 What’s New – Drawing Zones #SW2015
The enhancements of SOLIDWORKS 2015 keep coming. Engineering drawings have always had drawing zones around the outside of the title block to communicate what areas of the drawings are being referenced in documentation.
SOLIDWORKS 2015 allows you to define the zones on a sheet format for providing locations of drawing views and annotations.
Right click on the sheet and select properties. There is a new tab for Zone Parameters.
The visibility of the zones can be controlled under the View pull-down menu (View, Zone Labels)
Zone Labels – Annotations and View Lables
These drawings zones are not just markings on the outside of your drawing. SOLIDWORKS allows us to create parametric links to the drawings zones.
Annotations and labels can include column and row, column only, row only, or the drawings view row and column.
Revision Symbols
Yes they did not forget the revision table. Zone labels are parametrically linked to the revision table. This means that they will update when we move or update a revision symbol.
This is just one of several drawing enhancements to make your job easier.
Please check back every day as we will be releasing articles twice a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
