SOLIDWORKS 2019 What’s New – Select Identical Components During Other Commands – #SW2019

EmailFacebookGoogle+LinkedInTwitterShare

For quite some time in SOLIDWORKS we have been able to SELECT IDENTICAL COMPONENTS in an assembly with the “selection” toolbar (the one with New, Open, Save, etc).

New in SOLIDWORKS 2019 is the ability to use SELECT IDENTICAL COMPONENTS while you are in the middle of the following commands:

  • Component Patterns (Linear, Circular, Curve Driven, Pattern Driven, Sketch Driven)
  • Component Mirroring
  • Collision Detection or Physical Dynamics
  • Feature Scope (assembly level features)
  • Defeature
  • Exploded View

While you are in these commands, during the selection of components, simply RT+CLK on a component in the graphics screen, or the flyout feature tree and choose SELECT IDENTICAL COMPONENTS and they will all be selected!

I think this will be particularly useful in Exploded Views and in selecting parts for the Feature Scope of an assembly level feature.

Great time saver while working in Assemblies in SOLIDWORKS 2019!

I hope this part of the What’s New series gives you a better understanding of the new features and functions of SOLIDWORKS 2019. Please check back to the CATI Blog as the CATI Application Engineers will continue to break down many of the new items in SOLIDWORKS 2019. All these articles will be stored in the category of “SOLIDWORKS What’s New.”
