SOLIDWORKS 2019 What’s New – Drawing Open Progress Indicator – #SW2019
New to SOLIDWORKS 2019 is the Drawing Open Progress Indicator.
The drawing open progress indicator will pop up when opening any drawing in SOLIDWORKS 2019 and remain open if the drawing takes longer than 60 seconds. The indicator shows you different types of information and gives you the ability to visually watch as it completes the process of opening a drawing document. Being able to visually see a document open instead of watching a wheel spin is a great thing but what are you actually seeing?
First, the window will show SOLIDWORKS loading the components. It will give you the total number of components and total number of files in the model.
Second, you will see the drawing sheets update. This happens after the components are loaded so that it can update models including mates, assembly features, patterns, and in-context models. You will also be able to see the multiple sheets being opened and have the ability to skip those if necessary.
Third, the graphics are generated allowing you to see and be able to edit the drawing.
The last few things the indicator will show is the elapsed time it took to open the drawing and the previous time it took to open the drawing.
If you want to improve the performance of the drawing, you can click Performance Evaluation from this window to see a broken-down list of views per sheet and rebuild times per view. This can help you determine what is causing the drawing to open slowly.
I hope this part of the What’s New series gives you a better understanding of the new features and functions of SOLIDWORKS 2019. Please check back to the CATI Blog as the CATI Application Engineers will continue to break down many of the new items in SOLIDWORKS 2019. All these articles will be stored in the category of “SOLIDWORKS What’s New.”
