SOLIDWORKS 2022 What’s New – MBD
Every year SOLIDWORKS adds great new enhancements to their products. One great product that they have added new enhancements to is SOLIDWORKS Model Based Definition (MBD). SOLIDWORKS MBD is a great tool used to help your company define, organize, and even publish 3D product manufacturing information (PMI). So, if your company is looking to go paperless and do away with drawings, then MBD may be the tool for you.
One of the great enhancements that has been done with SOLIDWORKS 2022 MBD is the ability to create DimXpert angle dimensions. To do this simple choose the new Angle Dimension option in the MBD command manager tab, then from there select two or three DimXpert features, where the first two selection defines the origin, and the third selection establishes the tolerance feature. See Figure 1 and 2 below. In earlier version of SOLIDWORKS, you were limited in what you could input for a dimensioned angle and you could use the Auto Dimension Scheme tool to create a DimXpert angle dimension.
The geometric tolerancing for DimXpert has some great new enhancements in SOLIDWORKS MBD 2022 as well. For instance, after you have chosen an existing DimXpert feature or defined a one, the software evaluates the feature and tolerance specifications for the drafting standard you select which is also a new option in SOLIDWORKS MBD 2022. See Figures 3 through 6 below.
These are some of the great new enhancements that SOLIDWORKS 2022 MBD has to offer you and your company if you have decided to go paperless using SOLIDWORKS MBD.
I hope this part of the What’s New series gives you a better understanding of the new features and functions of SOLIDWORKS 2022. Please check back to the CATI Blog as the CATI Application Engineers will continue to break down many of the new items in SOLIDWORKS 2022. All these articles will be stored in the category of “SOLIDWORKS What’s New.”
