SOLIDWORKS: How Do I Get Rid of the Resource Monitor Check Your System Message?

SOLIDWORKS Rx and the SOLIDWORKS Resource Monitor are terrific resources to maximize your SOLIDWORKS performance. When running low on resources or having graphics card issues, you can quickly see what the issue is and resolve it. In theory and in practice, this can be great. However, sometimes we in Tech Support hear, “How do I get rid of these annoying pop up messages? I just want to get some work done in SOLIDWORKS!”

First of all, there is a reason the message appears. To display the most recent message again, click the SOLIDWORKS Resource Monitor icon in the notification area. Note: The SOLIDWORKS Resource Monitor has no user interface other than the icon and messages. Nothing appears on the screen if you double-click the icon or click it before a message has appeared.

At some point, you should take the time to Run System Diagnostics to see what the issue is. Simply right click on the SOLIDWORKS Resource Monitor icon and pick Run System Diagnostics.

For a detailed blog on the low memory message, click here.  For information about your graphics card and drivers, click the Windows Start button and type in SOLIDWORKS Rx. The Diagnostics tab will show you if you are running a supported graphics card and a supported driver. If you are not, this is one reason why you’d get the SOLIDWORKS Resource Monitor error message.

Dismiss Graphics Notifications

The Check Your System message is only supposed to popup every 10th time SOLIDWORKS is launched. However, I have seen bug reports saying that SOLIDWORKS can’t really confirm that it’s exactly every “10th” startup, so I wouldn’t expect it to be perfect based on that. The other bug report out there is that the SOLIDWORKS Resource Monitor message pops up even though the latest supported graphics driver is installed.

Here is the easy fix as you may have seen in my image above. Go to the SOLIDWORKS Resource Monitor icon in the right-hand corner of Windows and right click on the icon. Select “Dismiss Graphics Notifications.” This is the best and easiest way to simply get rid of the reminder.
