The Facts and Fiction of 3D Scanning for Reverse Engineering
Join us for a half hour exploration of different reverse engineering workflows and techniques to allow for precise design of the most challenging parts. See how we can use 3D scanning technology’s unique ability to capture real world surfaces and translate them (with a bit of elbow grease of course) to a CAD file format. We’ll look at our most powerful software functions at our disposal and when it makes the most sense to use them vs shelving the big guns in favor of saving time via “quick and dirty” methods. Not only reserved for the most difficult parts though, see how these tools can greatly speed up your process on parts of all levels of design complexity. If you’re currently doing or considering any sort of reverse engineering in house, you’ll want to catch this presentation.

Getting Started with SOLIDWORKS Mold Tools
Join CATI for a quick introduction into the mold tool design features found in all versions of SOLIDWORKS. Focusing on plastic injection molded product tooling. It's critical that your plastic parts can be manufactured. Injection molding is one of the most common methods. This manufacturing process often requires complex mold tooling to be designed and machined. Your part design will need to meet critical geometry requirements in order to be moldable. Holes in your part will require shut-off surfaces. Undercut geometry will require side cores and lifters. Core pins can help preserve tooling. Tooling interlock can maintain alignment and ensure part consistency.
