Manufacturing Software
SOLIDWORKS CAM
SOLIDWORKS CAM delivers an easy-to-use, intelligent programming experience right within the SOLIDWORKS interface and saved to your assembly data. It will enhance your manufacturing process by capturing company standards, speeding up quoting and programming, and testing manufacturability of a design earlier in the process.
SOLIDWORKS CAM uses rules-based machining to enhance the programming process in the same way rules-based design helped to speed up the drawing and design process. Rules-based machining leverages tolerances that have been assigned to each component, allowing users to focus on the critical areas of making a part rather than touching every feature that needs to be machined.
-
CAD design and CAM programming seamlessly integrated inside SOLIDWORKS.
-
CAM data conveniently stored with the SOLIDWORKS design -- no external files.
-
Always on the current part revision, with full model-to-toolpath associativity.
-
Rules-based machining improves new user experience, reduces design errors and wasted time, and establishes company best practices.
-
Feature recognition allows users to understand manufacturability and cost, program faster, and apply standardized and optimized strategies with full control.
-
Tolerance-Based Machining allows for the best machining strategy and for quickly making adjustments as designs, materials, and tolerances change.
-
High-Speed Machining creates toolpaths that lead to shorter cycle times while extending tool life and lowering machine wear.
-
Automate quoting and compare to traditional methods to ensure all aspects of the part are accounted for ahead of time.
-
2.5-axis functionality including part & assembly machining and toolpath simulation and tool collision inside SOLIDWORKS.
Which SOLIDWORKS CAM package is right for you?
SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard
SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard lets you quickly program individual milled parts and configurations without leaving the SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD environment. You have full access to defining rules within SOLIDWORKS CAM to create and build to your company standards, as well as Tolerance-Based Machining (TBM).
SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional
SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional builds on the capabilities of SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard with increased programming capabilities. The additional features include High-Speed Machining (HSM), configurations, assembly machining, turning, and 3+2 programming to drive four- and five-axis machines.
CAMWorks
CAMWorks® with Machining Intelligence is the most advanced CAM programming software available for getting products to market faster, more efficiently and within budget. CAMWorks is a next generation best-of-class CNC programming solution that enables its users to program smarter and machine faster.
SOLIDWORKS CAM Features | SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard | SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional | CAMWorks |
---|---|---|---|
Rules-Based Machining | SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard | SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional | CAMWorks |
SOLIDWORKS CAM uses rules- based machining to enhance the programming process while leveraging tolerances that were assigned to components. Rules-based machining lets you focus on the critical areas of making a part rather than touching every feature that needs to be machined. |
|||
Tolerance-based Machining (TBM) | SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard | SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional | CAMWorks |
Tolerances and annotations in 3D models are used to automatically create machine programs. TBM automatically adjusts asymmetric tolerances to mean tolerances for cutting tool strategies. |
|||
Knowledge-Based Machining (KBM) | SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard | SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional | CAMWorks |
KBM is like have a machinist at your fingertips. Once features are identified by automatic or interactive feature recognition, KBM defines machining strategies and tools to best machine the geometry. Using these rules will automatically allow you to define repeatable machining processes based on your company standards. |
|||
Associativity with SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD | SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard | SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional | CAMWorks |
Any change made to a design in SOLIDWORKS CAD is automatically updated, applied, and reflected in SOLIDWORKS CAM. |
|||
Automatic Feature Recognition (AFR) | SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard | SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional | CAMWorks |
Recognize certain types of geometry (holes, pockets, bosses, and turn–Professional only) not only as CAD features. Automatic feature recognition allows prismatic parts to be identified at a feature level based on machinable shapes. |
|||
Automate Machine Times | SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard | SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional | CAMWorks |
Automate machine time calculation and compare it to traditional methods for ensuring all aspects of a part are accounted for ahead of time before committing to production. |
|||
3 + 2 Programming | SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional | CAMWorks | |
SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional can employ a machining technique where a three-axis milling program is executed with the cutting tool locked in a tilted position using the five-axis machine’s two rotational axes. |
|||
High-Speed Machining (HSM) | SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional | CAMWorks | |
SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional HSM using VoluMill technology maintains constant tool pressure throughout the cutting process. The variable feed rate allows the tool to cut at full depth to shorten cycle times while extending machine and tool life. This best-in-class machining routine works with standard cutting tools to lower overhead cost when machining components. |
|||
Turning Capabilities | SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional | CAMWorks | |
SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional has turning capabilities that include face rough and finish, rough and finish turn, groove rough and finish, rough and finish bore, cut-off, ID and OD threading, and drill, and tap on center. |
|||
Rotary Machining | CAMWorks | ||
Advanced 3-Axis Milling | CAMWorks | ||
Mill-Turn | CAMWorks | ||
A solution for both milling and turning on the same machine tool, allowing for increased productivity and flexibility. |
|||
Sync Manager for Synchronized Machining | CAMWorks | ||
CAMWorks Virtual Machine Standard | CAMWorks | ||
Perform true G-code machine simulation directly from the G-code used for the CNC machine. |
|||
4- & 5-Axis Simultaneous Milling | CAMWorks | ||
Allows the user to create toolpaths across complex shapes that could not be machined on three-axis machines. |
