For professionals using creative software applications, BOXX solves productivity bottlenecks by thoroughly understanding the software you rely on and engineering optimized hardware solutions that address your workflow’s time-consuming tasks.
SOLIDWORKS and BOXX Workstations
For SOLIDWORKS users, our goal is to provide you with faster rebuilds, reduced open and save times, and overall improved interactivity with large assemblies. – in other words, make you more productive. Recent SOLIDWORKS 2017 performance benchmarks show a continued performance advantage when opting for our overclocked APEXX workstations.
BOXX WORKSTATIONS FOR DESIGN AND MODELING
Selecting the number of processing cores in your SOLIDWORKS workstation is critical. SOLIDWORKS is a frequency bound application (meaning that it predominantly uses only one core). Since the frequency of that core determines performance more than any other variable, a workstation with less cores (but higher frequency) is ideal. Because of this, BOXX safely overclocks our SOLIDWORKS workstations up to 4.4GHz delivering the fastest, most productive SOLIDWORKS computer on the market.

BOXX WORKSTATIONS FOR SIMULATION AND RENDERING
Properly configuring a SOLIDWORKS Simulation workstation can make a huge difference in solve times. A common misconception is that the more CPU cores in your system, the faster the solve times will be. This is true up to about 10 CPU cores. Configurations beyond that can actually decrease solve times. We increase the frequency of the CPU because of this core limit and offer the fastest SOLIDWORKS Simulation machines on the market.
Unlike modeling and design tasks, rendering and simulation are multi-threaded and will take advantage of many CPU cores. While SOLIDWORKS simulation is multi-threaded, performance gains level off after 10 cores. An ideal solution for SOLIDWORKS simulation is an overclocked eight core or ten core APEXX workstation.
If you need to render your SOLIDWORKS assemblies, you have a few options, each with different compute requirements. SOLIDWORKS Visualize is a standalone GPU accelerated rendering tool based on Nvidia’s Iray. Overclocked multi-GPU APEXX workstations are ideal for Visualize. Many BOXX customers integrate CPU based rendering tools like Keyshot into their workflows. In this scenario, you may opt for dual Xeon solutions with many CPU cores.
