DESIGN EXPLORATION, PARAMETRIC OPTIMIZATION, & TOPOLOGY OPTIMIZATION

September 9 || 2:00-2:30 PM ET

Parametric design studies and topology optimization are great tools to improve any product design by coming up with lighter more efficient products. In parametric design studies, the designer is in control. Starting from the original model, the designer sets up which parameters can vary in what range, and subjected to which constraints. The program does the heavy number crunching, examining many scenarios and finding the best solution.

Topology optimization on the other hands comes up with a design very different from the starting design space. With additive manufacturing becoming more mainstream, this is especially useful, even suggesting totally new designs that would be impossible to manufacture using traditional processes. Dassault Systèmes has a variety of solutions for both parametric design studies and topology optimization.

In this presentation, we will review our solutions integrated in the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform and as part of SOLIDWORKS Simulation Professional.

FLOW & THERMAL SIMULATIONS EMPOWERING ENGINEERS & ANALYSTS

September 23 || 2:00-2:30 PM ET

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations help engineers and analysts get valuable and non-intuitive insights into fluid flow and thermal performance of products under real-world operating conditions. Key performance indicators such as minimal pressure drop (or flow losses), maximum thermal efficiency, optimal flow distribution and uniformity are captured to guide design decisions.

In this webinar, we will cover Fluid Dynamics Engineer role (3DEXPERIENCE FLUIDS) from Dassault Systèmes that offers CAD embedded CFD leveraging body-fitted meshing with boundary layers, advanced turbulence modeling, intelligent near-wall treatment and cloud based solver scalability enabling accurate and realistic CFD simulations for simple and large complex models alike. This is critical for users to gain confidence into product performance, guide, and validate key design decisions. We will highlight real world applications around industrial equipment, high tech, & life sciences industries leveraging cloud based Fluid Dynamics Engineer role on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.

MODELING ADVANCED NONLINEAR MATERIAL BEHAVIOR WITH ABAQUS

October 7 || 2:00-2:30 PM ET

We will start by looking at some of the common material models available for this type of analysis, focusing on metal plasticity models and hyper elastic techniques. We will show how these models can be used by the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform structural FEA tools and by the Abaqus solvers.

We will also highlight the innovative material calibration tools that allow for the input of material test data and then the automatic tools to create material models that exhibit the same behavior as the test data.

MODSIM: THE NEW APPROACH TO COLLABORATIVE DESIGN & SIMULATION

October 21 || 2:00-2:30 PM ET

In product development, modeling and CAD bring ideas to life. Simulation and CAE examine if the product will behave as desired. Modeling & Simulation (MODSIM) is for CAD-CAE coming together, helping design engineers at the early stages of product development.

In the vision of Dassault Systèmes, such close integration of CAD-CAE and beyond, like in the domains of manufacturing and governance, join in the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform. It brings many roles together, addressing individual needs, while working harmoniously under one environment. In this presentation, we talk about the benefits of MODSIM. We show some of the workflows that facilitate this close collaboration between a designer and an engineer, or the integration of the various tasks that a design engineer performs as an individual, with a higher focus on simulation.

DURABILITY ANALYSIS, FATIGUE LIFE, & DAMAGE MODELING

November 4 || 2:00-2:30 PM ET

Durability failure is one of the most common types in the field amongst real products. This webinar will highlight techniques available from Abaqus on the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform (in a fatigue-enabled version of 3DEXPERIENCE STRUCTURAL) to help us predict and avoid these types of failures.

We will look at different applications and investigate fatigue analysis, both low and high cycle, and how we can leverage simulation to help avoid fatigue failure. We will also investigate damage modeling and how this technique can be used to help avoid catastrophic failures when structures are severely overloaded or subject to things like impact or drop testing.

INTRODUCTION TO COMPOSITES FEA

November 18 || 2:00-2:30 PM ET

This webinar will focus on the techniques available to define complex composite structures in a special composites version of 3DEXPERIENCE STRUCTURAL to determine their performance under realistic load cases and manufacturing processes such as draping, warping, and complex multi-stack ply orientations.

We will also look at topics specific to simulation setup, like mesh considerations and failure mechanisms specific to composite structures.
