SOLIDWORKS 2015 What’s New – Weldment End Caps #SW2015

New to SOLIDWORKS 2015 is the addition of an Internal End Cap option. Previously we could create two types of End Caps; "Outward" and "Inward". Now in SOLIDWORKS 2015 we can create an End Cap with a New "Internal" option which will build an End Cap to fit the inside of a tube and optionally offset the recess.

Above we see the results of the "Outward" Option. The overall size of the model gets bigger by the thickness of the End Cap.

Above we see the results of the "Inward" Option. The tube is cut back by the thickness of the End Cap so the overall size of the model remains the same.

Above we see the results of the New "Internal" Option. The tube is left unchanged and the End Cap is placed to the inside of the tube. Also shown here is an offset from the end of the tube to recess the End Cap back inside the tube for welding.

Thanks and I hope you enjoy all of the new enhancements to SOLIDWORKS 2015, please check back to view our other articles in this series of SOLIDWORKS What's New.
