SOLIDWORKS 2016 What’s New – SOLIDWORKS Mating – #SW2016
SOLIDWORKS has provided a few new options to make mating easier. The first new option is that there is now an option available in the Mating PropertyManager to "Make first selection transparent" as you can see here in the lower options.
Once selected, the part will turn transparent making it much easier for selections.
The option is supported for all mate types except those that might have more than one selection from the first component (width, symmetry, linear coupler, cam, and hinge).
This comes in handy if a component is behind another component.
There were also some enhancements to Toggling the Visibility of Bodies or Components. You can toggle the visibility of solid and surface bodies by moving the pointer over the body in the graphics area and clicking Tab to hide or Shift + Tab to show. These keyboard shortcuts have been available for components in assemblies and are now available for bodies in parts. In addition, you can show one or more hidden bodies or components by moving the pointer to the graphics area, and pressing and holding Ctrl + Shift + Tab. Hidden bodies or components will temporarily display as transparent and can be changed to show by clicking them.
We hope this part of the What’s New series gives you a better understanding of the new features and functions of SOLIDWORKS 2016. Please check back to the CATI Blog as the CATI Support Team will continue to break down many of the new items in SOLIDWORKS 2016. All of these articles will be stored in the category of "SOLIDWORKS What's New."
