Assigning SOLIDWORKS Views To Your Number Pad

Assigning SOLIDWORKS Views To Your Number Pad

Here’s a quick tip for assigning keyboard shortcuts for your standard views with 1 button click.

Instead of using Ctrl+7 for Isometric View, just hit your #7 button on your keyboard number pad to get your Isometric View.  Or the #8 button on your keyboard number pad to get Normal To View, instead of Ctrl+8.

Here’s how to set that up.

Have a Part or Assembly open in SOLIDWORKS open.

Right click on the grey header to get to ‘Customize’.

Click on the Keyboard tab, under the Show pull down, select ‘Commands with Keyboard Shortcuts’, find the ‘Others’ category until you find Right, Top, Bottom, etc.

To assign to the ‘Right’ view, place your cursor after the Ctrl+4, then push on #4 button on your keyboard number pad to assign the #4 button.

To assign to the ‘Top’ view, place your cursor after the Ctrl+5, then push on #5 button on your keyboard number pad to assign the #5 button.

Repeat steps again for remaining views, Bottom, Isometric, Normal To, Front, Back and Left.

Once all your keyboard pad number keys are assigned, click the OK button to accept.

I hope this makes you a more efficient with SOLIDWORKS!
