New Podcast from InFlow - InPOD

I don’t know about all of you, but I spend a lot of time listening to podcasts. I’m a big sports fan, so a lot of what I listen to is about my favorite teams. I was also introduced to a history podcast that I’m a little surprised at how much I like it. One thing every podcast I listen to does for me is that it teaches me something. Now does information about my favorite football team impact me at work? No, generally it’s nothing more than conversation filler as we wait for a meeting to start. One project I’ve been working on at InFlow, and I’m very excited to announce its release, is a new podcast from InFlow – InPOD.

Why a podcast?

As I mentioned at the top, I really enjoy podcasts. They are a fun way to get information and you can learn a lot from a good podcast. The goal of InPOD is to give you another way to get your information. Curious about the differences between SOLIDWORKS PDM Standard and Professional? Now you can listen to a podcast and get that information whenever you need it! There are a lot of people out there that want to listen to this information on their own time. Maybe that’s on the way to work in the mornings or during a weekly Lunch ‘n Learn. Whatever the reason is, we want to provide you with more ways to get the information you need.

What topics are covered in the podcast?

When I was coming up with topics to discuss on the podcast, I immediately thought about the different products we support at InFlow. What I will be talking about on InPOD will be surrounding those products. We’ll hit on some of our best known offerings first, like SOLIDWORKS PDM, but stayed tuned for more conversations surrounding any number of different offerings. We’re going to go through high level discussions, such as a “what is it” discussion. Additionally, we will have more in depth discussions, perhaps talking about integrating our different systems.

When is it being released? Where can I find it?

Wednesdays! The first episode was officially released on May 7th and we are releasing new episodes each week. We want to keep you entertained and wanting to come back for the next episode, so check back each week for a great discussion about one of our products and a little teaser into what you can expect the next week. You can find the podcast on many of the major platforms. Google Podcasts, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and more, as well as on our host site.

Any teasers about the next episode?

One of the staples of the podcast will be guests. Our first episode was a common topic, PDM Standard vs Professional. The second episode, released today, is an interview with Jeff Sweeney, a Sr. PLM Consultant at InFlow Technology. Jeff is very active on the SOLIDWORKS Forums and has worked on several very interesting implementations in his years of supporting SOLIDWORKS and PDM. I pick his brain in the latest episode and we talk about everything from his start in PDM and some of what he has seen doing implementations all the way to some humorously tragic stories about why backing up your data is so important.

We’re going to be having other guests on the podcast as well, but I don’t want to spoil any surprises. You’ll just have to tune in each week to find out what you can expect. But next week, I’m going to talk about the accessing files in PDM. In particular, I’m going to discuss Web2 and what I think about that feature. Don’t forget to tune in!
