Customizing the SOLIDWORKS Interface is designed to make it easier on the user. We all have our favorite commands and want those favorites to be easily accessible from a simple right mouse button click. Did you know there is a global Customization Window?

To customize Menu and Shortcut bars, go to Tools > Customize

Customize opens up the SOLIDWORKS Customize window. Users have a way to customize just about everything in SOLIDWORKS ranging from Toolbars, Shortcut Bars, Commands, Menu’s, Keyboard shortcuts and Mouse Gestures.

Shortcut bars and Menu bars are active when a user Right-Mouse Clicks in the graphic area shown here.

OR select a part or feature shown here.

One common theme with the 2 menu’s is the “double arrow” at the bottom.

Select this arrow to expand the Menu or Shortcut Toolbar to show all the items in an expanded list.

If you choose “Customize Menu”, this will show all the commands with a series of check boxes so you can customize what you see with your Right-Mouse Click.

Circling back to the Customization tab and what it’s for. This tab is a quick way to set all the Shortcut and Menu checkboxes to “Show All” or “Reset’ or set them back to the SOLIDWORKS Defaults.
