Blog Preparing for SOLIDWORKS Essentials Training
So you’re learning SolidWorks for the first time. Maybe you’re looking to brush up on new versions or were self-taught and filling in some gaps. Here are some things that you can do to make your first experience learning SolidWorks with a class taught by FISHER/UNITECH an amazing one.Do some tutorials before you get to the first SolidWorks Essentials class. Specifically, these four tutorials:
- Introduction to SolidWorks
- Lesson 1: Parts
- Lesson 2: Assemblies
- Lesson 3: Drawings
These will give you a great foundation for your first time in class. To find these, open your copy of SolidWorks, go to the Help pulldown menu, and choose SolidWorks Tutorials.
If you are taking classes in-house at one of our training facilities, make sure your coworkers know you will be out. It is a four-day course with a one-hour lunch break in the middle. It is difficult to stay focused if you constantly receive emails and texts for work-related items! Focus on your training and it will pay off immensely in your SolidWorks abilities.
If you are taking classes online, make sure you find a quiet place to hide while you listen to the training. Classes are usually scheduled for 2 hours but often do not take every minute of that time. Use that time to work on your exercises. You need to make sure, especially for an Essentials class, that you take the time to do the exercises. Do your best to complete each chapter’s homework. It may be a lot of work, but every instructor at FISHER/UNITECH wants you to succeed in learning SolidWorks.
Finally, ask a lot of questions. Questions prompt others to join in on the conversations to discuss work-related issues that only improve your experience with training. There is nothing better than real-world scenarios to apply what you are learning in the textbook to your daily tasks.
