As more and more SOLIDWORKS users take advantage of all the automation features in SOLIDWORKS PDM, it becomes clear how important it is to keep other users in the loop. This is especially important for both users who aren’t in the vault all the time and those who are never in the vault but still need to know what’s going on. That is when it is handy to take advantage of the ability to send SOLIDWORKS PDM notifications via the […]

From InFlow Technology: Automatic PDM Standard SQL Backups

EmailFacebookLinkedInTwitterShare

It has been over a year since the release of SOLIDWORKS PDM Standard. Nearly everyone agrees PDM Standard is a huge step forward from Workgroup -though we did become a bit spoiled because making backups in Workgroup is much more straightforward than PDM Standard backups. It frightens me how many locations I visit where PDM is not properly being backed up. Most people seem to do a pretty good job ensuring their files are being backed up (any good file […]

FROM INFLOW TECHNOLOGY: PDM Branch/Merge

EmailFacebookLinkedInTwitterShare

First, what is the new 2018 PDM Pro Branch/Merge? Say you have a spreadsheet file that you want to experiment with. You may make a copy of that file, make your changes. The process could only destroy the data associated with a single file and the wizard for completing it was simple as a result: If a file was rolled back unintentionally or too […]

From InFlow Technology: Export Search Results from Embedded Search – #SW2018

EmailFacebookLinkedInTwitterShare

New in SOLIDWORKS PDM 2018, you now can export search results from the Embedded Search Window. Prior to 2018, this capability was only available in the Dedicated Search Tool which opened in a separate window. Additionally, because PDM Standard does not provide access to the Dedicated Search Tool, that meant that you could not export search results from PDM Standard. Often during an upgrade from previous version to newer version of PDM you will be able to upgrade to the most recent corresponding version of eDrawings. The role that eDrawings plays in the operation of PDM has several features and benefit, but for this scenario it allows you visualize your models from within the PDM explorer preview tab, to view features and geometry on the fly without the need to open a part every time. However sometimes during the process […]
