SOLIDWORKS 2016 – Copy settings wizard issues

EmailFacebookLinkedInTwitterShare

Recently we have had a number of customers that have installed SOLIDWORKS 2016. After the installation, they use their copy settings wizard file to import the settings back in to 2016, however no settings seem to be restored. All settings are stored in the registry for the current user. As you can see, there are different regisrty keys for the different versions. So what is happening is that the restore is restoring to the incorrect registry location. The easy workaround […]

SOLIDWORKS Uninstall Batch File

EmailFacebookLinkedInTwitterShare

This issue has come up a few time recently. I have been asked if there is a way to uninstall SOLIDWORKS products using a batch file. This can be used in many cases. Admins can push this out to clients if needed instead or running to every computer. I have found this also very helpful in uninstalling when the SOLIDWORKS installation manager fails. The batch file uses the Windows installer utility. It is easy to create, however it takes some […]

SOLIDWORKS has provided a few new options to make mating easier. The first new option is that there is now an option available in the Mating PropertyManager to "Make first selection transparent" as you can see here in the lower options. Once selected, the part will turn transparent making it much easier for selections. The option is supported for all mate types except those that might have more than one selection from the first component (width, symmetry, linear coupler, cam, […]

SOLIDWORKS 2016 What’s New – SOLIDWORKS Utilities – #SW2016

EmailFacebookLinkedInTwitterShare

In this section, we will look at the enhancements in the SOLIDWORKS utilities. SOLIDWORKS has added some additional options to the compare tool that make it easier identify the volumes that have been added and removed in a model. Before, it took a little effort to see what the differences were in the models besides looking at the 2 different models. SOLIDWORKS has addressed this by adding the option to keep the bodies when you close the file and add […]
