SOLIDWORKS 2022 What’s New – Hybrid Modeling

EmailFacebookLinkedInTwitterShare

The past few releases of SOLIDWORKS have given us the ability to work with mesh BREP geometry which makes working with imported mesh geometries (such as from a 3D Scanner) way easier. In SOLIDWORKS 2021 and previous however, we only had the ability to add a limited number of supported features and could not combine mesh bodies with traditional solid bodies. We would need to create our traditional SOLIDWORKS BREP bodies and then convert them to mesh BREP bodies to […]

SOLIDWORKS – Creating Internal Volume – Combine (Subtract)

Previously there have been a few CATI blogs written regarding the process of finding the internal volume of a part. Such methods include the commonly known Intersect command to achieve this task as well as the Delete Face command. This blog will touch on one more approach to that end goal which might prove useful to your circumstance. An alternative approach to identifying the internal volume of a part in SOLIDWORKS is by use of the Combine feature, specifically Combine […]

Overlapping patterns with filets.

When creating a circular patterns in SolidWorks there is a limitation that the resulting pattern of extrusions and filets cannot overlap on to itself. However there is a trick we can use to get around this. Instead of patterning the feature we can pattern the body. This will give us a set of individual solid bodies that can overlap. Then the combine command can be used to turn that set into a single solid model. Thanks, Jordan Nardick, CSWETechnical AnalystComputer […]
