Do you need a DriveWorks form for mobile?

EmailFacebookLinkedInTwitterShare

I don’t have to tell you that more and more of the cool kids are using mobile devices. Mobile web page design is becoming more important -especially now that Google’s search engine favors sites that are “mobile friendly“. It isn’t hard to design your DriveWorks forms to adapt to the user’s viewing size, but is it worth the effort? Does it matter to you? It is really pretty easy to find out. DriveWorks 12 has a special variable – Form Container […]

DriveWorks for Sheet Scales

EmailFacebookLinkedInTwitterShare

If the overall size of your models change significantly, there is a good chance you will need DriveWorks to change your drawing sheet scales to keep your model looking nice on the sheet. Imagine this is my drawing. Let’s say the height of my part does not change much, but my length (which is currently 100 in the model master) can change significantly.   DriveWorks (Pro and Solo) gives us two sheet properties that we can use to drive the […]

Pretty form validation in DriveWorks

EmailFacebookLinkedInTwitterShare

I’ve always liked how DriveWorksXpress handles form validation. When you build the form, you tell DriveWorksXpress what type of data you want (text or number) and if it is a number, tell it the range of numbers you will accept. With no more setup than that, the validation output looks like the image above -if there is a validation issue, the field is pinkish and a tooltip is available to help the user fix the issue. This seems a bit […]

Workflow and Specification Flow

EmailFacebookLinkedInTwitterShare

A little more than a year ago, with DriveWorks 7, DriveWorks introduced Specification Flow. Many people rejoiced, many were confused. I had several people ask why they would need specification flow when they already had workflow through their PDM. At first glance, many Enterprise PDM users assume the two functionalities overlap…their interfaces look rather similar and they both have similar sounding names, but actually they [can] have completely different functions because they fit in different areas of your company’s order timeline. DriveWorks’ specification flow […]

New improved URL

EmailFacebookLinkedInTwitterShare

Quick, what is DriveWorks’ web site? http://www.driveworks.com? Nope http://www.driveworks.org? Nada http://www.driveworks.gov? Not even close. It’s http://www.driveworks.co.uk. Yeah…if it wasn’t for my browser’s bookmarks, I’d never remember it either. I’ve written letters, attended town hall meetings, even offered bribes to get a web site address I can remember. Finally my persistence paid off –three fold! Try: http://www.driveworkspro.com http://www.driveworkssolo.com http://www.driveworksxpress.com The http://www.driveworkspro.com site is the newest of the three, the highlight is the link to the new DriveWorks Live sample site at […]
