In a previous post, I showed you how to use the Slicing Tool to create 2D cross sectional geometry using a planar face as a reference. In this example, I will show you how you can use the Slicing Tool on Standard SOLIDWORKS BREP geometry using Linear and Point Entities. Tech Tip: The Slicing Tool works on Standard SOLIDWORKS BREP geometry, Mesh BREP geometry and Graphics Bodies. We can begin by selecting both the Line and a Vertex as shown […]

SOLIDWORKS 2019 What’s New – Opening Part Configurations in Quick View – #SW2019

EmailFacebookLinkedInTwitterShare

Starting in SOLIDWORKS 2019 you will have the ability to view configurations of your parts and assemblies while a file is loaded in Quick View. This functionality is controlled on a file-by-file basis. To view a configuration in Quick View, the file must first be opened normally. With the part or assembly open, go to the configurations tab where your configurations are listed. Right click an existing configuration and choose “Add Display Data Mark” as seen in the image below. SOLIDWORKS 2019 introduces a new feature to help reverse engineer or create sketch references based on a sliced section of a model. Introducing the Slicing Tool. You can use the Slicing Tool to create 2D sketch sections at the intersection of your source geometry and a reference plane. This works on standard BREP geometry, the new Mesh BREP geometry, and Graphics Bodies. In this example, I will show you how you can use the Slicing Tool on this SOLIDWORKS Mesh […]

SOLIDWORKS 2019 What’s New – Creating Partial Chamfers and Fillets – #SW2019

EmailFacebookLinkedInTwitterShare

When using a fillet or chamfer in SOLIDWORKS 2019, you will find there is a new section in the Property Manager called “Partial Edge Parameters”. Starting with SOLIDWORKS 2019, you can now specify an offset to the start or end of your fillets and chamfers to create a partial fillet or a partial chamfer. To do this, check the box for the new section called “Partial Edge Parameters” that is in the property manager. For a Fillet, the Partial Edge […]
